After a run that spanned multiple events, patterns and elimination rounds, Chris Viale has captured the 2026 Vincent Hall Memorial Cup Series championship.
Viale's road to the title began at the East Coast Sports Investors Doubles at East Providence Lanes, where he teamed with Malik Grove. The pair finished fourth, earning Viale his opportunity to advance into the Vincent Hall Memorial Cup eliminator rounds.
The first eliminator round took place during the Rip Callahan Memorial Singles at Callahan's Bowl-O-Rama. Facing the challenging 2022 USBC Women's Championships pattern, Viale posted a score of +8, doing enough to survive the first elimination and advance into the next stage of the series.
From there, Viale turned things up considerably.
At the Tournament Sense Singles at Lang's Bowlarama, the remaining competitors battled on the 2026 PBA Jr. Tackett pattern with another cut looming. Viale left little doubt about whether he would be moving on, firing a red-hot +152 to comfortably secure his place among the final 20 competitors in the Vincent Hall Memorial Cup.
That brought Viale to the Dexter Bowling Singles at East Providence Lanes, where tournament finishing position would determine which four players would remain alive for the Vincent Hall Memorial Cup championship.
Viale advanced through the 12:30 PM qualifying squad with a +37 performance on the 2024 PBA Steelsmith pattern, earning his way into the single-elimination match-play bracket.

Viale's Dexter Singles run would finally come to an end against eventual tournament champion Henry Hecht. Hecht fired 248 to Viale's 215, eliminating Chris from the Dexter Singles in the Round of 8.
But Viale had already done enough.
His finish secured his place in the final four of the 2026 Vincent Hall Memorial Cup Series alongside Tom Coco, Nick DeFazio and NEBA Hall of Famer Bill Webb.
Four bowlers remained, with one game left to determine the 2026 Vincent Hall Memorial Cup champion.
The championship shootout started tightly contested, with all four players having their moments early. Tom Coco was the first to double, while Chris Viale answered with an early double of his own using the Hustle Wine. Bill Webb battled back from an early open with a double, while Nick DeFazio continued grinding through a series of single-pin leaves.
As the match moved into its second half, the championship began developing into a battle between Coco and Viale. Chris tripped a 4-pin to pull even with Coco, and the two continued trading shots while neither could create much separation.
Carry quickly became a factor. Viale left a stone 8-pin and later a 9-pin on quality shots, while Coco continued applying pressure with strikes of his own. By the ninth frame, Webb and DeFazio had fallen out of contention, leaving all eyes on Coco and Viale.
