Joe Novara Champion at Open

  • Apr 28, 2019

Joe Novara won the Open presented by DV8 for his seventh title.  Joe has an incredible history of bowling in NEBA winning seven titles in his first seven years while bowling less than forty tournaments.  The tournament, he had a different route to the championship trophy.  When the cut was announced, Joe missed by a three pins and won a DV8 ball as alternate.  One person did not show up for roll call so Joe grabbed a spot in the finals.  The finals were an eliminator style instead of the regular head to head matches.  Joe tied for the cut the first round with 205 then won the roll-off against Bill Webb.  After that he started striking on the lower scoring short pattern shooting 234, 212, 229 and 246 to advance to the championship match.  In the final match, he defeated Joe Scianna 214-180.  Joe won $1,550 and moved himself into an elite group of the top 25 winners in the 56 year history of NEBA.  A huge thanks to NEBA's longest supporter of NEBA: for adding $1,000 to the weekend's tournament in addition to their sponsorship of the annual awards.
