Robby Shine & Alex Cavagnaro win the Grog Monster Sports & GMS Decorative Concrete Doubles

First-time NEBA bowler Robby Shine won his first NEBA title by partnering up with now two-time NEBA Champion Alex Cavagnaro winning the Grog Monster sports & GMS Decorative Concrete Doubles event hosted by Bowlero Cranston on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

We had 99 teams participate on Sunday, with 24 teams going into single-game match-play finals. The team of Shine / Cavagnaro qualified 9th for match-play, where they met the group of Chris Viale & Darrin Borges, defeating them 444 to 354. Now moving on to round two of match-play, they took on the number 8 seed team of Paul Smith & Justin Urbano, who posted a score of 471, unfortunately not enough against the formidable team of Shine & Cavagnaro, who posted a 525 for round two. Moving on to the third round of match-play, they met the number one seed team of E.J. Omelia and David Simard of Canada, defeating them with a score of 494 to 434, securing their spot in the semi-finals against Amanda Broege and Rob Gotternarn. During this semi-final match, Alex Cavagnaro shoots 300 giving his team a total of 483, defeating the team of Broege / Gotterbarn with a score of 432. Now in the Championship match, they square off against the team of Tim Giguere and Tyler Hurne, defeating them 474 to 410 to secure the first NEBA title for Robby Shine and the second NEBA title for Alex Cavagnaro. Robby & Alex picked up a total of $2,200 for the win, plus a paid entry into the SPI Tournament of Champions in November.
